A new poll from the American Action Forum shows that the GOP is becoming more conservative over the past decade than it was in the mid-1990s.

The new poll finds that Republicans are less likely to favor abortion rights, more likely to support strict gun control and less likely than Democrats to support gay marriage.

The survey found that Republicans were more likely than those in other political parties to be in favor of a ban on abortion and less willing to embrace a ban of same-sex marriage.

The survey, which was conducted by Public Policy Polling, found that while 46 percent of Americans are supportive of banning abortions and 47 percent of voters think abortion should be legal, only 22 percent of Republicans and 26 percent of Democrats are in favor.

The poll found that 53 percent of non-college educated voters, a group that President Donald Trump frequently refers to as the “silent majority,” are in support of restricting abortion rights.

The poll also found that Republican voters are more likely now than in the early 1990s to believe that abortion should only be legal in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is in danger.

The percentage of Republicans who say abortions should be outlawed has increased from 16 percent in 2016 to 20 percent now, while the percentage who believe abortion should always be legal has dropped from 32 percent to 21 percent.

In 2016, the poll found 51 percent of Republican voters believed that abortion was morally acceptable.

In 2017, that number rose to 56 percent.

That number dropped to 51 percent in 2018 and to 48 percent in 2019.

A majority of Republican women now believe abortion is morally acceptable, the survey found.

While more women now identify as pro-life than ever before, more still say they are pro-choice.

A plurality of women now say they support abortion rights for rape victims, while 46 to 45 percent said the same of abortion rights as for other women.

Among Democrats, support for abortion rights is also rising, but the percentage saying abortion should never be legal is down from 59 to 51.
